Jean was born in East End of London and grew up a short walk from the London Docks in Wapping and Whitechapel. She is also a qualified district nurse.
In 2006 Jean won the Harry Bowling prize, which secured her a two-book contract with Orion Fiction. She wrote three further novels set in Victorian Dockland’s before jumping forward to post-war East London. In 2013 her fifth novel Call Nurse Millie, was published followed by All Change for Nurse Millie, earlier this year. Her third East London nurses’ series is now in production and she is preparing to begin her fourth.
